It has been a while since our cross country trip but we have not forgotten about all of you. Let's say we have been busy getting back in the saddle! We plan to leave for a European cycling trip on May 18th but in the meantime we flew to the Virgin Islands to rest up with our good friends Chuck and Marla.
We have spent our first few days adjusting to the Island life. An interesting observation of paradise and poverty can quickly be seen in a simple panoramic view. The thought, "Is this really part of the US" parades across your mind as you travel throughout. I guess paradise has its blemishes but the beauty shines through which we immediately encountered at our first house in Sapphire Beach on Saint Thomas.
To say the least the clarity and color of the water here is amazing! You are basically swimming in an aquarium. An amazing lifeguard, Jelani, led us through this beautiful underwater world. We saw sea turtles, colorful fish, rays, white urchins, sea fans, coral sculptures that stretched out before us creating a canvas of raw enchantment.
