The Streets of Amsterdam: 10/13/25
Who cares about the weather when you're plotting an indoor adventure? That was our mindset today as we hopped a shuttle bus to the airport, ready to catch a train to downtown Amsterdam and lose ourselves in the wonders of the Rijksmuseum. Easy trip so we thought.
At the airport station, we were greeted by a big crowd. Not my idea of fun! Turns out, a train had broken down leaving all the others running late. When our train finally rolled in, we were herded aboard like sardines in a tin. I haven’t felt that squished since I attended a Rolling Stones concert in the early 70s.
A few stops later, the crowd thinned, and we could finally breathe. Stepping out of the station in downtown Amsterdam was like walking into a postcard: charming buildings, serene canals, boats gliding along, and bicycles zipping by. We strolled for a solid forty minutes to the Rijksmuseum, window-shopping and soaking in the vibrant city atmosphere.

The Rijksmuseum? It's a treasure trove of art that inspires anyone with an eye for magnificence. We’re talking Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh—the masters of the past! Seeing their pieces, some over 400 years old and still looking amazing, was nothing short of awe-inspiring. We wandered for three hours, guided by a fantastic audio tour that made each painting come alive. If art’s your thing, this place is a must. If it’s not, you might just change your mind!

We Killed Time: 10/14/25
We slept in. We ate breakfast. We walked five miles to buy packing wrap. We lounged around our hotel room. We ate dinner at the airport. We played cards with Craig and Susie. We went to bed.

Wheels up: 10/15/25
After two great months on the road, we're finally heading home. It's a bittersweet moment—part reluctant goodbye to the adventure, part anticipation for the simple joys of normalcy, like a proper bed and a hot shower that lasts more than three minutes.
We crammed all our gear into the hotel shuttle and rolled up to the airport without a hitch. Maneuvering those massive bike boxes through the revolving doors? Always an interesting endeavor but we nailed it this time and checked in a whopping three hours early.

Next up: a quick 3-hour hop to Iceland for a layover pit stop, then straight on to our final touchdown in Denver. Homeward bound! ✈️

On our final leg from Iceland to Denver, we hopped on a shuttle that took us right onto the tarmac to board the jet. While rattling along, we struck up a chat with a friendly fellow passenger. As we disembarked, the plane had two external staircases—one at the front and one at the rear. Our new acquaintance headed to the front, while we veered toward the back.
As he strolled away, he shouted out, "Have a safe trip!" The funny thing is, he was boarding the same plane—just via a different door. Last I checked, if the front end goes down, the back usually tags along for the ride. (Physics: It's simple!)
Happily, all our luggage and bike arrived without a hitch—it was a seamless process. Our great friend Chuck picked us up at the curb, and spotting that familiar face felt like we were home. We finally crashed into bed at home, but no rest for the jet-lagged: We were wide awake by 3:00 a.m., desperately pining for coffee and pastries!
We hope you all enjoyed tagging along on the fun and adventures of the past few months. It's always a delight to hear from you, and we hope to stay in touch. What's next? We'll be soaking up family time and holiday cheer at home, counting down to a fantastic new year. Lord willing, we're jetting back to South America in February to brush up on our Español!
Until next time...keep on rolling,
Scott and Sarah

Praise God for a smooth trip home!! Yea for home!!!
How long were you here in Iceland? Wish I could have seen you. Glad you’re back home.
“The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace."
