Horse apples or Osage orange, from the bois d’arc tree.
What a weird name when it is green.
I agree, looks like an Osage orange tree’s fruit. Also called hedge apples (as Cindy already mentioned), monkey balls, and monkey brains. I hear they don’t taste good, unfortunately.
I think it is an Osage Orange. They are also called a hedge apple.
